Krk Island
Island of Krk belongs to the Kvarner archipelago in the northern Adriatic, between Istria peninsula in the west and the Croatian coast in the east.
It’s 219 km of coastline forms numerous bays (Voz, Sepen, Beli Kamik, Čavlena, Konobe, Stara Baška, Stipanja…) and natural harbors (Peškera, Malinska, Lagdimor, Vela i Mala Luka, Kijac).
Southern coast is very steep and is a karst zone in which the griffon vultures have their habitats and was declared an ornithological reserve. Since it is almost inaccessible, is not populated.
The middle section of the coast is less steep and more accessible, particularly around the bay Soline. The northern part is set between the bays Slivanjska and Voz. That part is called Košćera. The coast is steep there and completely inaccessible, but is significantly lower than those in the southern part of the east coast.
