Cres Island
Island of Cres belongs to the Kvarner archipelago in the northern Adriatic, between Istria peninsula in the northwest and the island of Krk in the east.
Cres was once connected with the island of Lošinj and it was later separated by the excavated channel between the two islands.
There is a freshwater lake Vrana (cryptodepression) which is the main source of drinking water for the entire archipelago.
Today, the island of Cres is one of the few habitats of griffon vultures, especially its northern part.
It is interesting that on Cres, as in the rest of the archipelago, there are no poisonous snakes.
